Welcome to Prisoner to Prisoner P2P®

Prisoner to Prisoner P2P® is a fourteen-year-old ministry that was started in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.   (P2P®) has been reviewed and endorsed by Ms Evelyn Lemly, Executive Director of Kairos Prison Ministries International, as a publication worthy of wide distribution to inmates, Kairos volunteers and the general public.  In 2002, Kairos Prison Ministry of Ohio took over the operation of P2P® with a vision that Kairos state chapters, churches, individuals and other organizations, would help expand the distribution of the devotionals to all States and to other countries.  Kairos of Ohio stepped out in faith, as the current free bulk distribution to Ohio prisons amounts to 4,000 devotionals every issue.   P2P® annual expenses are approximately $48,000.  Without growth of the ministry, income may not cover costs.

You can help expand the ministry of P2P® in the following ways:

  • Talk to Kairos leaders, church leaders, clergy, your Fourth Day community, share groups and other Christian-minded organizations about sponsoring distribution of P2P® to prisons in need.
  • Order a personal subscription.
  • Send a cash contribution to support the ongoing free distribution to over 83 prisons outside of Ohio.
  • Gift a personal subscription to family, friends or an incarcerated loved one.
  • Place a standing order (large or small) to distribute in your church to Christian friends or to be shipped to a prison Chaplain in your area or elsewhere.
  • You are God’s hands and feet.  Please prayerfully consider how you might help this ministry grow.

The Mission of “P2P®

“Prisoner to Prisoner”  is a daily devotional written and edited BY prisoners, FOR  prisoners.   It also speaks to those in the free world.  These devotionals are prepared and provided in the true spirit and tradition of the Kairos Prison Ministry.

The mission of P2P® is to communicate God’ saving grace,  to those who are imprisoned, through the use of Bible verses,  and the faith-building experiences of their fellow Christian prison writers.

Many of the psychological and spiritual wounds suffered by those incarcerated are unique to the peculiar status of prisoners.  Whether finding themselves inside a county jail, detention center, federal penitentiary or state prison, their common ground is an environment not easily understood by others.

Prisoners need faith to survive.  We believe enduring faith is best achieved in the context of our own cultural experiences.  Jesus used parables with which his followers could easily relate.  Taking Jesus’ example, we have composed this devotional with the hopes our own “prison parables” may become a device in the healing of your spiritual wounds – whether you are behind bars or “free” but in a “prison” of your own making.  May God bless the writers and readers of P2P®,  as we seek His presence in our lives.
